Performance Management

Our performance management work helps clients to carefully design and track key performance indicators (KPIs) so that the board members and decision makers can have confidence that they are in control of their organisation.

We are particularly keen on statistical process control (SPC) to help decision makers understand what is happening to their KPIs, whether any process changes are having an impact and where there is significant deviation from normal activity levels.

Scenario Modelling

Our scenario modelling work aids decision making by allowing the user to explore numerous options and refine the underlying assumptions. We build our dashboards on financial models that can link into underlying financial systems.

Predictive Analytics (forecasting)

We have carried out predictive analytics, of which forecasting is an integral part. Where the data is of sufficient completeness (i.e. time series going back several periods or well-understood explanatory variables), forecasting can provide a useful early warning system for the performance of a given metric.

Examples

Value for Money - We have developed a specific model to predict Social Housing Cost per Unit. This model is then presented in a Power BI report.

Disability Estimates - We have used data from the Family Resources Survey (via the UK Data Archive) to estimate the level of disability that to might expect to see in a resident population. This is a vital sense check on the accuracy of data that a housing provider or local authority might hold on the needs of their residents.

Performance Monitoring - using statistical process control we have created Excel and Power BI models to identify unusual behaviours when monitoring processes
